Blue Marble was founded in 1986 by a bunch of grad students who
otherwise would have had to find real jobs. Our idea was to bring
together a fun, relaxed crowd of intellectually curious people: people
we enjoy traveling with.
Our Philosophy. First, we shop well. We highlight the meals, the
bikes, route research... the important things! "Flexibility" and
"independence" define our trips. We liberate you from details like
finding the "right" hotel or figuring out which bike route to follow.
You sign on for hassle-free travel.
The Means. We bypass chain hotels in favor of simple country
inns. Charm and good food characterize our restaurants. Our bikes are
fully-equipped for road touring. When not on the bikes, our journeys
are part of the fun. We do it the way the Europeans do, on trains and
boats.
Biking. The bikes are a means to an end. The rides are beautiful
and easy, and there's lots of time to stop and explore -- though never
enough. We start off slowly and gradually work up to a daily average of
30 or 40 miles, depending on terrain, and on the sights that compete
for our attention.
Staff. Coordinators serve as centers of information. We don't
make you do stuff; we help you do what you please.
Our Trips. 35 routes include France, Spain, Portugal, Italy,
Switzerland, Austria, Germany, Denmark, Norway, and even Luxemborg!
Trips from 3 days to 5 weeks start at $900/wk, and include bike,
lodging, ground transportation, guide, and most meals.
There is no better way to see a country than by bicycle.
